This St George’s Day we renew our positive vision for Norfolk - demonstrating the best of our values - having a pride of place, a strong local identity, a commitment to serving and supporting our communities, protecting our countryside and coastline
"Our Plan for a Brighter Norfolk" manifesto focuses on several key pledges we are promoting today:
- Infrastructure: A £20 million boost for road maintenance and potholes.
- Culture: A new policy offering free museum entry for all children aged 14 and under across Norfolk's ten County Council museums.
- Environment: A £10 million flood prevention fund to protect the coastline and inland areas.
- Heritage: Continued investment in the "social and cultural fabric" of the county, including the recent completion of the Norwich Castle restoration project.
Led by Conservative County Councillors, we are pushing to have St George’s Day recognised as a formal bank holiday. England should have the same parity as Scotland (St Andrew's Day) and Northern Ireland (St Patrick's Day) to celebrate national pride and support the local hospitality sector.
Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch also recently toured Norfolk high streets, specifically backing local pubs and small businesses—many of which are hosting St George’s Day events today.
